Soldering is a process in which two or more metal items are joined together by melting and flowing a filler metal into the joint, the filler metal having a relatively low melting point.
The RoHS regulation was introducted in Europe in July 2006. The regulation requires Lead free soldering and it has been one of the most important transition in the industry. Lead free products are required to be compatible with the conventional equipment and production process; and also remedy problems related to melting points, wettability, cost and stable supply.
One of the most frequent application of soldering is assembling electronic components to printed circuit boards (PCBs).
