Iron powder core is a form of magnetic core configured from a mixture of iron oxide or ferrite particles into a tiny doughnut -like shape. It is placed in a spatial relationship to current-carrying conductors, and is used to maintain a magnetic polarization for the following application:

• Output chokes for switching power supplies,
• Conducted EMI (Electro Magnetic Interference),
• Frequency control circuits,
• Pulse transformer and other related application.

Iron powder toroid core is an excellent choice when designing chokes and transformers in the extensive frequency range of powdered iron. The toroidal choke or transfomer allows maximum inductance in a minimum space and has the best surface area-to-volume ratio for heat dissipation. Toroid designs are also magnetically self-shielding which greatly reduce the effects of electro-magnetic interference and keep leakage flux to a minimum.
